Charleswood - Tuxedo

This is a large ward located on the far west side of Winnipeg, predominantly to the south of the Assiniboine River. The ward has had some changes from the previous Charleswood – Tuxedo – Whyte Ridge ward, which will take effect for the 2018 civic election. It will include four neighbourhoods to the north of the Assiniboine River, and will no longer include the Whyte Ridge neighbourhood at the south-east tip.

Under its previous boundaries the ward had a population of 42,239, based on 2016 census data.  The new ward has a population of 45,947 residents, based on 2016 census data.

Prior to the 2018 election boundaries, all neighbourhoods south of the river have been represented by Councillor Marty Morantz, who was elected in 2014. The Assiniboia Downs, Glendale, Westwood, and Kirkfield neighbourhoods on the north side of the river were part of the St. Charles Ward, which was represented by Councillor Shawn Dobson, who was elected in 2014. The Whyte Ridge neighbourhood will now be part of the new Waverley West ward.

Neighbourhoods within the new ward boundaries include:

  • Assiniboia Downs
